Arts, Culture & Heritage 2026 Municipal Candidate Survey

In Brantford and Brant County, the upcoming municipal election on October 26 is an opportunity to consider the future of our communities. As part of this, the arts, culture, and heritage sector remains a topic of interest for many residents, as well as the creatives and professionals working in these fields.

To help you make an informed decision, Grand Culture invited all registered candidates running for mayor and council in the City of Brantford and County of Brant to participate in an Arts, Culture & Heritage Municipal Candidate Survey. All candidates were asked the same three (3) questions:

  1. Can you provide examples of how you personally collaborated with initiatives in arts, culture, and heritage and how you will continue to champion this sector?

  2. What in your platform directly supports the arts, culture, and heritage sector?

  3. Recognizing the long-standing and well-identified need for accessible and dedicated facilities for arts, culture, and heritage, how will you work toward supporting existing facilities and encouraging the creation of new spaces, while ensuring these areas receive meaningful support and funding alongside the ongoing investment in recreational and sports facilities?

This project is part of our ongoing mandate to realize a thriving cultural sector in Brant Region. The goal is to provide a resource that makes it easier for voters to compare the different ideas and approaches that candidates have included in their platform.
