The commissioned artist will be selected through an open, two-stage process. The project budget of $35,000 CAD (inclusive of HST) includes all costs directly associated with the artwork, including taxes, artist fees, production, materials, equipment rental, installation, and other professional services, insurance, permits, travel, and other incidental and production expenses.

Up to three (3) artists will be shortlisted and paid $750.00 CAD (inclusive of HST) each to create detailed proposals that include proposed designs.

The successful artist will need to be available for any interviews and/or photography during production/installation or after the mural is complete. Compensation for the interview and photos is factored into the artist call.

This project will also include a mentorship component. A local emerging artist will be selected in conjunction with the selected artist or artist team and paid by the City of Brantford to serve as a paid assistant during the fabrication and installation phases of the project.
